With the goal of introducing the world to the potential of Japan’s fiber industry, TOKYO FIBER was started in 2007. TOKYO FIBER ’09—SENSEWARE Exhibition, the second phase in the series, was held from Wednesday, April 22nd, to Monday, April 27th, at La Triennale di Milano in conjunction with the Salone period.
The Exhibition garnered a resounding 38,000 visitors and was brought to a close amidst pronounced success, and many people have signaled their anticipation for the next exhibition.
We are pleased to announce the realization of the next stage in our series, the TOKYO EXHIBITION, to be held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT (inside Tokyo Midtown Garden) this coming September 18th (Friday) until the 27th (Sunday). At the TOKYO EXHIBITION, just as in Milan, in addition to having 17 works on display by 15 creators and 2 companies, we are also planning to offer a book anthologizing the exhibitions. The response received in Milan made us fully appreciate the response to this new business, and once again, we would like to state the project enabled us to identify the possibilities for Japan’s artificial fibers. We would like this series not to culminate in just another exhibition, but to be something which transforms into a focus on and the enduring promise of Japan’s artificial fibers. It is our hope to raise expectations for the TOKYO EXHIBITION to even higher levels.
On Thursday the 17th, one day in advance of the exhibition’s opening, the Press Day private viewing is scheduled for members of the media. There will also be a reception, which we hope you will be present at as well. Invitations will be sent out at a later date, so kindly RSVP to let us know if you will be attending. If you have any particular requests for specific interviews or other inquiries, please address your inquiry to the Public Relations Office, as detailed below.
